Position Overview:

This essential role within the Jewish Family Service of Colorado (JFS) focuses on providing critical housing stability and support services for individuals experiencing homelessness. Utilizing a Trauma-informed methodology, the coordinator will effectively engage with clients facing various challenges related to housing. Participation in relevant meetings and adherence to established guidelines is crucial. Key responsibilities include collaborating with landlords to secure housing for clients and guiding them through the housing process, which encompasses searching for suitable accommodations, completing necessary applications, and finalizing lease agreements. Additionally, the coordinator will educate clients on their rights and responsibilities as tenants. Building and maintaining strong partnerships with landlords while fostering positive relationships with clients is paramount. This position demands exceptional organizational and multitasking abilities, as the coordinator will work with clients in various locations while also managing case documentation and attending meetings at the agency.

Responsibilities:

Housing Navigation
  • Identify and secure affordable and suitable housing options for clients.
  • Utilize the referral system to connect with clients in need.
  • Engage and maintain productive relationships with landlords.
  • Confirm homelessness status in accordance with HUD guidelines.
  • Provide transportation for clients to housing-related appointments.
  • Conduct inspections to ensure housing meets habitability standards.
  • Facilitate resolution of any disputes between landlords and clients.
  • Assist landlords with financial assistance requests and processes.
  • Provide clients with resources regarding tenant rights and obligations.
  • Support clients in maintaining stable housing by connecting them with additional resources and employment opportunities.
Case Management for Housing Stability
  • Collaborate with the case management team to enhance client housing stability.
  • Evaluate clients' barriers to housing and work towards solutions.
  • Document client information and interactions in required databases.
  • Authorize services based on client needs and available resources.
  • Maintain comprehensive client records and track progress.
  • Participate in required training and agency meetings.
  • Contribute to reports detailing program activities.
  • Comply with all grant eligibility and documentation standards.
  • Connect clients with community resources.
  • Understand and apply Rapid Re-Housing principles.
  • Establish and uphold professional boundaries with clients.
  • Attend necessary case conferencing and meetings.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
