Job Description

Aloft Culinary Host order, prepare and present all food related to both the re: fuel and wxyz bar menu. Talent is passionate about quality standards and guest service and possesses the ability to communicate effectively and multitask. Qualifications

In addition to the core job requirements, skill sets, and work-related experience the ideal Lead Culinary Talent must illustrate the ability and drive to:

Approach each guest interaction with the mindset of exceeding guest expectations. Ability to go above and beyond for each and every guest.

The Lead culinary talent will be expected to hold themselves to the highest standards of guest service and truly embody the team player trait with other Talent members.

Help create an energized food experience through friendly and personalized service.

Be a self-starter always motivated to be their best. A culinary talent member must go above and beyond in the culinary world.

Take pride in the overall look and feel of the hotel assuring cleanliness and conditions of refuel and surroundings are at their peak at all times.

Responsibility for ordering needs. This includes all Re: fuel items and specific items needed for WXYZ food and beverage production.

Maintain appropriate and consistent cleanliness, organization, and rotation of all food and beverage storage areas—ability to practice FIFO for all items. Be Health Inspector ready at all times and hold others to this standard.

Communication will be needed to ensure good working relationships are maintained with every department.

Contribute to a fun, energized, and comfortable working environment as an active member of the aloft team

Drive product quality and guest satisfaction by consistently operating as if they "own it"

Anticipate customer needs with the ability to change goals and directions quickly

Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including shift work, evenings, holidays, and weekends

Must be able to speak, write, read and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace to communicate with guests, associates and supervisors.

Food & sanitation certified with good working knowledge of accepted sanitation standards.

An outgoing, energetic personality with excellent communication skills

Good working knowledge of the fundamentals of cold & hot food preparation.

Must be able to understand recipes, measurements, requisition amounts, and portion sizes including costing/ pricing of F&B items

Ability to train talent on F&B as needed

Conduct monthly inventory and product/price review

Complete quarterly Marriott F&B Safety Audit

Ability to assist Front Desk as needed

Ability to bartend as needed

Other tasks as assigned

Physical Demands

Must be able to stand and exert well-paced ability for up to 8 hours in length at a time

Must be able to exert a well-paced ability to reach other departments of the hotel on a timely basis

Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. occasionally

Must be able to stand for 8 hours at a time

Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability, and visual acuity

Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors, and subordinates

Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception

Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment

Must have finger dexterity to be able to operate office equipment such as computers, printers, 10-key adding machine, electric typewriter, multi-line touch tone phone, filing cabinets, FAX machines, photocopiers, dollies and other office equipment as needed

Most work tasks are performed indoors. Temperature is moderate and controlled by hotel environmental systems; however, must be able to work in extreme temperatures like freezers (-10°F) and kitchens (+110°F), possibly for one hour or more

Education and Experience

High school or equivalent education required

Two years of food & beverage service or customer service experience in the hospitality industry preferred

Serve Safe Certified Preferred
