Job Description

Position Overview
The Sous Chef plays a crucial role in ensuring the kitchen operates smoothly and efficiently. This position involves supervising, guiding, and training kitchen staff while adhering to established recipes and procedures. A collaborative spirit is essential, along with the ability to fulfill all assigned responsibilities during shifts. The Sous Chef will also be tasked with maintaining the kitchen's cleanliness, safety, and overall quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
1. Manage inventory and order supplies as needed.
2. Monitor labor costs and food waste to meet budgetary goals.
3. Communicate effectively with the general manager, executive chef, and delivery personnel.
4. Uphold the food quality standards set by Reid's Fine Foods.
5. Arrive at work punctually; any delays must be communicated to the Executive Chef.
6. Submit requests for time off at least two weeks in advance, adhering to seasonal restrictions.
7. Lift and carry items weighing 25 lbs or more as required.
8. Maintain a standing/walking position for extended periods during shifts.
9. Check in deliveries and coordinate with drivers efficiently.
10. Understand and manage monthly food margins and inventory expectations.
11. Assist with monthly inventory assessments.
12. Comprehend the weekly production schedule and manage prep lists effectively.
13. Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation standards; Serve Safe certification is mandatory.
14. Demonstrate knife skills and food preparation techniques.
15. Manage time effectively to meet kitchen demands.
16. Adhere to standard portion sizes and recipe specifications consistently.
17. Maintain a clean and sanitary workstation, including all kitchen areas.
18. Follow opening and closing procedures as outlined in checklists.
19. Report any equipment malfunctions or food quality concerns to the Executive Chef promptly.
