Summary of Position:

Elder Research Inc. is looking for a Director who will focus on growing our presence on the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and support our larger Defense & Intelligence business unit. As a Director, you will report to the Senior Director of Operations and Business Development for the Defense and Intelligence Business Unit.

You will work with the Senior Director in sustaining, expanding and diversifying our analytics business focused on data driven services. The director will also work with the Senior Director on partnership development. The Director will coordinate with and support other Directors and Business Unit Leaders on non-D&I efforts where appropriate.

This position requires an organized, self-motivated individual capable of leading office growth initiatives while simultaneously supporting the management of multiple contracts, ensuring office security, and supporting accounting for office budget and finances. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in client engagement management, team leadership, project management, consulting services, requirements elicitation, and proposal/report writing. In the position, you will work directly with clients to understand business needs.

You will work with project managers and data science and engineering teams to build a practical business pipeline - define and document the destination (how do we define success), the tactical plan (how are we going to get there), the milestones (mile markers to keep us on target), and the reports (Pipeline and proposed gating execution). You will provide leadership, technical expertise and oversight to teams that create and build proposals that incorporate data science, machine learning, and advance analytics. This position requires a TS/SCI clearance and US citizenship. The willingness to submit to security polygraphs may be necessary depending on the clients

Essential Functions:

  • Business Development Pipeline – Based on strategic objectives, be able to identify, execute capture and ensure a robust and stable business development pipeline that ensures manageable growth.
  • Team Building – Develop relationships with other business that fill gaps and augment our ability to propose against desired pursuits within the business development pipeline.
  • Proposal Execution – Be able to work independently, work within a team or lead the execution and submission of proposals against the business development pipeline.
  • Leadership Collaboration – Work in close partnership with ERI's Defense and Intelligence Senior Director and the Leadership Team, collaborating to understand opportunities and identify areas for growth; make strategy and business recommendations as appropriate.
  • Strategy – Work with the Senior Director to develop and execute a vision and strategy for the DHS consulting business that is aligned with ERI, BU goals and upholds our corporate values.
  • Customer Development – Work with the Senior Director and other BU Leaders to identify and capture new opportunities that are in alignment with strategic goals.

Job Specifications/Requirements:

  • 15 plus years of related experience
  • A Bachelors Degree in a related field, a higher level of Education (Masters or PhD) is preferred
  • A current or Active TS/SCI within the past 2 years
  • Excellent written and verbal communication Skills
  • Ability to travel to client sites and other ERI offices as needed
  • US Citizenship
