As a Safety Coordinator, your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting the Safety Director in all facets of the Safety for Life Program at Lee Construction Group (LCG).
  • Working closely with the Safety Director to develop safety packages for new projects, conduct safety training sessions, perform job site safety evaluations, procure safety equipment, and maintain up-to-date safety documentation.
  • Participating in incident investigations, facilitating workers' compensation claims, and supporting employees in the return-to-work process.
  • Maintaining regular communication with the Safety Director to prioritize tasks and ensure the achievement of the companies' strategic safety objectives.
  • Exhibiting a strong commitment to safety; understanding that employee health and safety is not merely about compliance but about ensuring everyone returns home safely each day. Effectively communicating the Company’s Safety for Life Mission, Vision, and Values to colleagues and trade partners.
Qualifications:
  • Preferred Associate's or Bachelor's degree.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in commercial construction.
  • 1 to 3 years of safety experience in construction or general industry.
  • Completion of OSHA 30 training.
  • Strong understanding of safety principles, regulations, and best practices, with the ability to identify safety hazards and align team members with our Safety for Life culture.
  • Experience in delivering safety training to groups using various communication methods, including technology and visual aids.
  • Knowledge of best practices for managing workplace injuries.
  • Excellent communication skills, demonstrating emotional intelligence, active listening, respectful language, constructive feedback, and collaborative problem-solving.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, including Access; experience with Procore is a plus. Ability to quickly learn new technology solutions.
  • Flexibility while maintaining reliability and consistency; capable of working independently and collaboratively with integrity.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to ask insightful questions and approach problem-solving collaboratively.
  • Ability to foster productive relationships through open collaboration with project planning groups, field operations teams, design teams, and clients.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to plan and prioritize tasks for high-quality outcomes.
  • A commitment to continuous learning and professional development, with a willingness to pursue educational opportunities for job performance enhancement.
  • Must have a personal vehicle for business travel within an 80-mile radius (mileage reimbursement provided); must possess an excellent driving record and a valid Virginia Driver's License.
  • Ability to meet physical demands, including:
    • Climbing ladders and stairs (up to 5 floors).
    • Bending, kneeling, crawling, and maneuvering around various equipment.
    • Moving around job sites during all construction phases.
    • Lifting a minimum of 75 pounds to waist height.
    • Demonstrating excellent hand-eye coordination and the ability to grasp and assemble objects.
    • Having excellent vision (natural or corrected) and hearing capabilities.
  • Willingness to undergo a background check and pass a drug test.
