Role Summary

The Director of Patient Services is responsible for overseeing the operations of Patient Food Services across the healthcare system. This role encompasses management, education, training, and performance enhancement of patient food service staff. In collaboration with the Systems Director of Operations and the Director of Nutrition Systems, this position ensures compliance with all relevant patient-related regulatory agencies across facilities. The director plays a vital role in achieving patient satisfaction and maintaining positive public relations through the effective use of resources.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement patient service programs in alignment with medical direction and patient demographics.
  • Recruit, lead, mentor, and develop patient services managers and supervisors.
  • Oversee the evaluation and disciplinary actions of patient food services personnel as per departmental guidelines.
  • Monitor the competency, productivity, and documentation accuracy of patient services teams using appropriate tools and resources.
  • Engage with patients in assigned areas to ensure they receive visits from management or professional staff during their stay.
  • Support patient services staff in meeting established patient satisfaction objectives.
  • Facilitate effective communication with team members, patients, and families through meetings, consultations, and committee involvement.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Hospitality Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of five years of relevant work experience, including at least two years in healthcare and one year in a managerial role.
  • Certification as a Dietary Manager is required if the candidate does not hold a degree in Nutrition or Dietetics; a Registered Dietitian credential is preferred.
  • ServSafe Certification is essential.
  • Familiarity with food and catering trends, emphasizing quality, production, sanitation, cost control, and presentation.
  • Strong supervisory, leadership, management, and coaching abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across various levels, including management, clients, customers, and staff.
  • Financial, budgeting, accounting, and analytical skills.
  • Proficient in computer applications, including Microsoft Office, email, and internet usage.
