Role Summary:
The Senior Manager of Communications and Marketing plays a pivotal role in shaping and executing the marketing and communication strategies of the organization. This position involves the comprehensive planning, development, and implementation of initiatives aimed at educating the public, boosting engagement, and encouraging philanthropic support.

Work Environment:
This role is primarily based in the Adoption Center, with the possibility of occasional remote work upon supervisor approval. Standard working hours are Monday to Friday, typically from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with flexibility to accommodate organizational needs.

Compensation and Benefits:
The annual salary for this position ranges from $50,000 to $52,000. The organization offers a competitive benefits package for full-time employees, which includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, a Simple IRA plan with a company match, 18 days of paid time off in the first year, paid holidays, and discounts on pet prescriptions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Fundraising & Engagement Team to design and implement strategies for donor acquisition and retention through various campaigns, including email marketing and direct mail.
  • Effectively manage resources and budgets, including oversight of external vendors and advertising contracts.
  • Maintain and update the organization's Wordpress website, ensuring timely responses to issues and important notices.
  • Work with the Marketing & Communications team and contractors to create, publish, and distribute various media materials, including event marketing collateral and annual reports.
  • Oversee the strategic social media plan, implementing key performance indicators and providing guidance on responses as necessary.
  • Manage requests for graphic design materials to support the organization's marketing efforts.
  • Direct the strategic use of various acquisition channels, including pay-per-click and lead generation campaigns.
  • Ensure a consistent and high-quality brand experience across all marketing channels.
  • Develop methods to assess marketing effectiveness and make data-driven decisions.
  • Act as the primary liaison for media outlets, building relationships with key influencers.
  • Collaborate with Senior Leadership to develop and execute an effective crisis management plan.
  • Formulate long-term strategies to enhance organizational goals, such as increasing adoptions and volunteer engagement.
  • Execute duties related to the contract with the Direct Mailing provider, ensuring alignment with the organization's brand voice.
  • Prepare clear and informative press releases, news briefings, and talking points, coordinating all media engagements.
  • Manage the scheduling and execution of newsletters for targeted audiences.
  • Participate in weekly Operations Meetings, collaborating with various departments to produce cohesive marketing materials.
  • Support the Executive Director with media relations as needed.
  • Supervise and assist the Content Coordinator.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Communications, Marketing, or Public Relations.
  • Proficient in managing a Wordpress website.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office, Adobe Suite, and Canva.
  • Experienced in utilizing social media for outreach and fundraising.
  • Familiar with social media and website metrics.
  • Creative with a proven ability to identify target audiences and develop engaging marketing campaigns.
  • Able to work independently while managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines.
  • Strong analytical skills with a data-driven approach.
  • Experience in public speaking and conducting interviews.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and volunteers at all levels.
  • Willingness to learn proper animal handling techniques and obtain Fear-Free Certification.
