Key Responsibilities

As a member of the Global Risk Control team, your responsibilities will include:
  • Conducting analysis, modeling, and reporting on market risk associated with trading activities. This includes evaluating physical and financial trades, transportation, storage, and foreign exchange transactions. Daily assessment of mark-to-market valuations, risk positions, basis shifts, and profit/loss outcomes is essential. Development and maintenance of risk reporting and analytics to effectively communicate positions, P/L, and market risk to stakeholders.
  • Overseeing deal coordination and price validation within the trading system, ensuring accuracy through deal checks, curve updates, and data reconciliation. Monitoring timely deal capture and adherence to internal trading limits and risk policies to maintain transaction integrity.
  • Providing insights into risk reporting processes, quantifying commodity exposure, and analyzing forward price trends for diverse trading activities. Continuous enhancement and review of risk models, testing new calculations, and communicating improvements for better valuation and risk assessment.
  • Collaborating with traders to identify and articulate the sources of risk within their portfolios.
  • Assisting in the reporting of trading results and positions to senior management.
  • Working closely with various departments, including Back Office, Finance, Credit, Legal & Compliance, and Business Unit Control, to ensure effective control practices and operational efficiency.
  • Coordinating with Compliance to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Identifying opportunities for process improvements and supporting their implementation.
  • Recognizing and communicating operational risks, defining mitigation strategies and priorities.
Work Environment

The position is situated within the Global Risk Control department, working under the guidance of the Middle Office Manager. The role involves measuring, analyzing, and monitoring the P&L, exposure, and Value At Risk of trading desks across various energy markets.

This role operates in a fast-paced trading environment, requiring prompt analysis and report generation. The Global Risk Control team collaborates across multiple locations and product types, including natural gas, LNG, and power.
