The Integrated Power Business Unit within the Gas Renewables & Power (GRP) Branch is in search of a Power Analyst specializing in Forward Hedging & Risk Management. This role is essential for enhancing our strategic initiatives in the power sector.
Key Responsibilities
As a Power Analyst, your responsibilities will include:
• Performing comprehensive evaluations of power and gas markets, focusing on ERCOT, including analysis of supply-demand factors, pricing trends, regulatory developments, and technological advancements.
• Crafting methodologies and pricing frameworks for effective hedging strategies within ERCOT.
• Contributing to the formulation of TotalEnergies' hedging approach, establishing appropriate limits and targets to minimize financial exposure.
• Designing and implementing mid-term hedging strategies that align with market conditions and corporate objectives, covering both power and gas sectors.
• Collaborating closely with TotalEnergies Energy Management partners and Power Trading teams to ensure alignment between short-term actions and mid-term strategies.
• Continuously monitoring portfolio optimization and the performance metrics of energy management partners.
Qualifications
• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Economics, Finance, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
• 3-5 years of experience in power markets, preferably in a trading environment, with a solid grasp of forward hedging and risk management. Knowledge of the ERCOT market is essential.
• A thorough understanding of the energy sector, including power market frameworks and trading dynamics.
• Experience with CCGT power plants is advantageous, while familiarity with other power generation or storage assets is also beneficial.
• Strong analytical and quantitative abilities.
• Ability to thrive in a dynamic, high-pressure environment while benefiting from a collaborative team culture.
• Excellent communication skills and the capacity to work effectively across various teams.
