Key Responsibilities

As a member of the Global Risk Control Organization, your role will involve supporting various Risk Control processes across the organization. Your responsibilities as a Risk Control Analyst will include:
  • Evaluating, modeling, and reporting on market risk associated with all trading operations. This includes monitoring physical and financial trades, transportation, storage, and foreign exchange transactions. You will analyze daily mark-to-market valuations, risk positions, basis changes, and profit/loss outcomes, while developing and maintaining risk reporting tools to effectively communicate market risk and trading positions to stakeholders.
  • Overseeing deal coordination and price validation within the trading system by conducting deal checks, price validations, curve updates, and data reconciliations. You will ensure timely deal capture and adherence to internal trading limits and risk policies to maintain transaction integrity.
  • Providing insightful analysis on risk reporting processes, quantifying commodity exposure, and evaluating forward price movements for diverse trading activities. You will enhance and review risk models, test new calculations, and communicate suggested improvements to optimize valuation and risk assessment.
  • Collaborating closely with Traders to identify and articulate the sources of risk within their portfolios.
  • Assisting in the reporting of trading results and positions to senior management.
  • Working with Back Office, Finance, Credit, Legal & Compliance, and Business Unit Control to promote effective control practices and operational efficiency.
  • Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements in coordination with the Compliance team.
  • Identifying opportunities for process improvements and supporting their implementation.
  • Recognizing and communicating operational risks, while defining mitigation strategies and priorities.
Work Environment

The role is situated within the Global Risk Control department, reporting to the Middle Office Manager. You will engage in the measurement, analysis, and monitoring of P&L, exposure, and Value At Risk for the trading desks.

This position operates in a fast-paced trading environment that demands immediate analysis and report generation. The Risk Control Analyst collaborates with teams across Houston, London, and Singapore, engaging with various departments including Front Office, Operations, Back Office, Finance, Compliance, and Trading Systems. The Middle Office plays a critical role in calculating profits and losses while managing market risks across diverse energy commodity assets.
