Key Responsibilities

As a member of the Global Risk Control team, your responsibilities will include:
  • Evaluating, modeling, and reporting on market risk associated with trading activities. This includes monitoring physical and financial trades, transportation, storage, and foreign exchange transactions. Daily analysis of mark-to-market valuations, risk positions, basis shifts, and profit/loss results is essential. You will also develop and maintain risk reporting and analytics to effectively communicate positions, profits, and market risks to traders and management.
  • Overseeing deal coordination and price validation within the trading system, ensuring accurate deal capture and compliance with internal trading limits and risk policies.
  • Providing insights into risk reporting processes, quantifying commodity exposure, and analyzing forward price movements for diverse trading activities. This includes maintaining and enhancing risk models, testing new calculations, and evaluating model assumptions.
  • Collaborating closely with traders to identify and articulate the sources of risk within their portfolios.
  • Assisting in the reporting of trading results and positions to senior management.
  • Working with various departments including Back Office, Finance, Credit, and Compliance to uphold best practices and operational efficiency.
  • Coordinating with Compliance to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Identifying opportunities for process improvements and supporting their implementation.
  • Recognizing and communicating operational risks while defining risk mitigation strategies.
Job Dimensions:

The role is situated within the Global Risk Control department, under the guidance of the Middle Office Manager. The focus will be on measuring, analyzing, and monitoring profit and loss, exposure, and Value At Risk across trading desks.

Work Environment

This position operates in a fast-paced trading environment that demands timely analysis and report generation. The Global Risk Control team collaborates across multiple locations and product types, including Natural Gas, NGL, LNG, and Power.

The Middle Office plays a crucial role in calculating profits and losses while managing market risks associated with trading activities. It encompasses all aspects of market risk control, including risk identification, measurement, monitoring, and reporting across various energy commodity assets.

Core Objectives:
  • Ensure compliance with internal trading limits.
  • Deliver accurate and independent analysis, valuation, and reporting of risk positions and trading outcomes.
  • Maintain compliance with external regulatory standards.
