Candidate Profile

The Integrated Power Business Unit within the Gas Renewables & Power (GRP) Branch is seeking a Power Analyst - Forward Hedging & Risk Management. If you possess a strong analytical mindset and a passion for energy markets, this role may be a perfect fit for you.

Key Responsibilities

As a Power Analyst, your primary responsibilities will include:

• Performing comprehensive analyses of power and gas markets within ERCOT, focusing on supply-demand trends, pricing fluctuations, regulatory developments, and technological advancements.

• Creating methodologies and pricing models for effective hedging strategies in ERCOT.

• Contributing to the formulation of TotalEnergies' hedging strategy, including setting appropriate limits and targets to mitigate financial risks.

• Developing and implementing mid-term hedging strategies that align with market opportunities and organizational objectives.

• Collaborating closely with TotalEnergies' Energy Management partners and Power Trading desks to ensure alignment between short-term actions and mid-term hedging strategies.

• Monitoring the optimization of the portfolio and evaluating the performance of energy management partners.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Economics, Finance, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related discipline.

• 3-5 years of experience in power markets, preferably with a background in trading environments. A solid understanding of forward hedging and risk management is essential, with specific knowledge of the ERCOT market being required.

• A thorough understanding of the energy sector, including power market structures and energy trading dynamics.

• Experience with CCGT power plants is advantageous, although familiarity with other types of power generation or storage assets is also valuable.

• Strong analytical and quantitative skills are crucial for success in this role.

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment while benefiting from a collaborative team atmosphere.

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively across diverse teams.
