Position Overview

Science Systems & Applications is seeking a dedicated Accounting Intern to assist our accounting department. This role presents an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to gain practical experience in the field of accounting. The selected candidate will be based at our headquarters and will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:

  • Financial Reporting Assistance: Contribute to the preparation and evaluation of financial documents, such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.
  • Data Management: Input financial information into accounting systems and help maintain precise records of all financial transactions.
  • Accounts Management: Support the processing of invoices, verify expenses, and assist in reconciling accounts payable and receivable.
  • Budgeting Support: Aid in the preparation of budgets and variance analyses, while helping to forecast financial trends and identify opportunities for cost savings or revenue growth.
  • Audit Assistance: Help during internal and external audits by collecting necessary documentation, conducting research, and preparing audit schedules.
  • Financial Performance Analysis: Analyze financial performance metrics, such as profitability and liquidity ratios, to provide insights into the organization’s financial status.
  • Special Projects: Assist with various projects assigned by the accounting team, which may include data analysis and process improvement initiatives.
  • Payroll Support: Contribute to payroll functions and manage timesheet submissions.

Qualifications Required:

  • Education: Enrollment in an Associate's or Bachelor's degree program in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • Analytical Abilities: Strong skills in analysis and problem-solving to interpret financial data and identify trends.
  • Detail Orientation: Exceptional attention to detail to ensure accuracy in financial documentation.
  • Communication Proficiency: Effective verbal and written communication skills for professional interactions.
  • Collaborative Spirit: Ability to work effectively within a team environment, supporting colleagues and contributing to shared objectives.
  • Time Management Skills: Strong organizational skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a dynamic setting.
  • Excel Proficiency: Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including the ability to create and manipulate spreadsheets and perform data analysis.
