Compensation: $29.00/hr.

Employment Type: Time-Limited, Full-Time, Non-Exempt

Location: Seattle, WA; hybrid-optional (WA residency required)

Note: This is a time-limited position intended to fulfill a temporary need. Hybrid-optional roles allow for a combination of remote and on-site work. A secure and private workspace with reliable internet is necessary for remote work.

For over 130 years, Wellspring Family Services has been dedicated to ending homelessness by assisting families and individuals in crisis to access vital services. As a non-profit, multi-service agency, we serve families in various counties and support employees nationwide who face asset limitations and income constraints.

Wellspring operates five primary programs, including:

  • Housing Services: Providing eviction prevention and rehousing assistance to at-risk populations.
  • Early Learning Center: Offering trauma-informed early childhood education for children aged 1 to 5 who have faced homelessness.
  • Family Store: Supplying essential items to low-income families to help them manage rent and other basic needs.
  • Employee Assistance Program: Connecting employees with necessary resources to address crises and maintain housing stability.
  • Employee Stability Program: Offering a financial safety net for employees struggling to retain or regain housing.

Role Purpose

The Housing Navigation Specialist will focus on assisting veteran families in King County. This role is pivotal in connecting these families with available housing resources, advocating for their needs, and nurturing a supportive community network. The specialist will collaborate with local veteran organizations, government entities, and community groups to ensure comprehensive support for veterans and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist veteran families in identifying and securing stable and affordable housing options.
  • Conduct assessments to identify specific challenges faced by veteran families and develop tailored support plans.
  • Monitor client progress and adjust support plans as necessary to meet evolving needs.
  • Stay informed about housing programs, financial assistance, and community resources.
  • Provide information and referrals regarding available services such as healthcare, housing, education, employment, and mental health support.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with veteran organizations, local government agencies, and community partners.
  • Participate in community meetings and training sessions to stay updated on best practices and emerging resources.
  • Assist clients in completing applications for housing programs and benefits.
  • Guide veteran families through complex systems to access necessary benefits and services.
  • Collaborate with the Program Manager to establish partnerships that address the unique needs of veteran families.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential client records, including case notes and progress reports.
  • Prepare and submit reports as required by funding sources and organizational policies.
  • Track client achievements and challenges to inform program improvements.
  • Follow up with families to ensure they receive the necessary support and services.
Additional Duties
  • Support Wellspring values through consistent actions.
  • Attend community events and workshops to promote services for veteran families.
  • Perform additional tasks and projects as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Minimum three years of experience in outreach, case management, or social services, preferably with veterans or military families.
  • Strong knowledge of veteran resources, benefits, and services.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with diverse populations.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and database management.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Experience troubleshooting minor software issues.
  • Highly developed cultural competency and awareness; practices appropriate strategies for working with diverse populations.
  • Strong understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion principles.
Physical & Mental Requirements
  • Washington State residency at the start date.
  • Ability to provide a private workspace with reliable internet if telecommuting.
  • Regular and predictable attendance is required.
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to use a computer for extended periods.
  • Moderate mobility may be required in a standard office environment.
