POSITION SUMMARY:
The Housing Support Specialist plays a crucial role in delivering trauma-informed assistance to program participants facing various challenges, including mental health issues, substance use disorders, and chronic health conditions. This position is dedicated to helping individuals achieve and maintain secure and stable housing.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Conduct assessments and maintain thorough documentation for each participant.
2. Provide information and referrals to relevant services.
3. Collaborate with participants to set achievable goals and develop cooperative case plans.
4. Advocate for participants' needs and facilitate connections with community resources.
5. Work closely with local schools and service providers to coordinate comprehensive support.

PROGRAM DETAILS:
Compass Broadview offers 58 permanent supportive housing units for individuals and families, including units designated for those who have experienced homelessness. Our services focus on overcoming barriers and enhancing the strengths of our residents through onsite case management and community engagement.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This is a unionized role, represented by Local 8 of the Office and Professional Employees International Union (OPEIU). The position operates within a supportive team atmosphere that values diversity and inclusivity.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a social or human services setting related to housing and homelessness.
- Demonstrated understanding of equity, intersectionality, and belonging.
- Familiarity with issues surrounding housing instability, mental health, and substance use is preferred.
- Experience in environments where language barriers may exist is a plus.
- Current WA State Food Handlers Permit is desired but can be obtained post-hire.
