Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Housing Support Specialist plays a crucial role in delivering trauma-informed assistance to individuals enrolled in our programs, many of whom face various challenges. The primary goal is to facilitate the achievement and maintenance of secure, stable, and permanent housing. This role encompasses a range of services including assessment, documentation, referrals, goal setting, direct advocacy, collaborative case planning, and service coordination.

Karlstrom Apartments

  • Named in honor of the founders of Compass, this facility comprises 23 studio apartments designated for individuals earning between 30 to 50 percent of the Area Median Income.
All units are allocated to individuals with a history of homelessness, utilizing Section 8 or Shelter Plus Care subsidies. Dekko Place Apartments
  • In collaboration with Gethsemane Lutheran Church in downtown Seattle, this site features 50 apartments catering to individuals and families earning between 30 to 60 percent of the Area Median Income, with some units reserved for persons with disabilities.

Reporting Structure:

This position reports to the Program Manager.

Employment Status:

Non-Exempt

Work Schedule:

Monday to Friday, 9:30 AM to 6 PM, with weekly staff meetings on Thursdays at 11 AM.

Compensation:

$26.37 per hour (Level 1)

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a social or human services environment related to housing and homelessness.
  • Experience and education demonstrating a commitment to equity and inclusion.
  • Familiarity with local resources available for individuals experiencing homelessness.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.

Physical Requirements:

This role requires the employee to stand, walk, use hands and arms, and occasionally push, pull, lift, and carry supplies. The position may involve extended periods of sitting, walking, and standing.

Work Environment:

The work environment is characterized by standard noise levels and close interaction with diverse client populations. Employees may encounter hazardous materials and must adhere to safety protocols. This position requires onsite presence only.
