Wellspring Family Services has dedicated over 130 years to eradicating homelessness by assisting families and individuals in crisis to access vital services. As a non-profit organization, we serve families across various counties and support employees nationwide facing financial challenges.
Our organization encompasses five key programs. The Housing Services division focuses on eviction prevention and rehousing initiatives for at-risk populations. The Early Learning Center offers trauma-informed education for children aged 1 to 5 who have faced homelessness. The Family Store provides essential items to low-income families, helping them manage their basic needs. Our Employee Assistance Program connects workers with necessary resources to maintain housing and employment stability. Additionally, our Employee Stability Program offers financial support to employees struggling to secure or retain housing.

Position Purpose:
The Housing Navigation Specialist will play a crucial role in assisting veteran families within the community. This position is focused on connecting these families with available housing resources, advocating for their needs, and nurturing a supportive network within the community. The specialist will collaborate with local veteran organizations, government entities, and community groups to ensure comprehensive support for veterans and their families.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support veteran families in identifying and securing stable and affordable housing solutions.
- Conduct assessments to understand the unique challenges faced by veteran families, developing tailored support plans and coordinating necessary services.
- Monitor client progress and adapt plans as needed to meet changing circumstances.
- Stay updated on housing programs, financial assistance, and community resources available to veterans.
- Provide information and referrals to veteran families regarding healthcare, housing, education, employment, and mental health services.
- Establish and maintain relationships with veteran organizations, local government agencies, and community partners.
- Engage in community meetings, networking events, and training sessions to remain informed about best practices and emerging resources.
- Assist clients in completing applications for housing programs and supportive services.
- Guide veteran families through complex systems to access benefits and services.
- Collaborate with the Program Manager to create partnerships that address the specific needs of veteran families.
- Maintain accurate and confidential client records, including case notes and progress reports.
- Prepare and submit reports as required by funding sources and organizational policies.
- Document client achievements and challenges to inform program enhancements.
- Follow up with families to ensure they receive the necessary support and services.
Additional Duties:
- Uphold the values of Wellspring by acting consistently with those principles.
- Support the organization by attending community events and workshops to promote resources for veteran families.
- Other tasks and projects may be assigned as necessary.
Qualifications:
- At least three years of experience in outreach, case management, or social services, ideally with veterans or military families.
- Strong understanding of veteran resources, benefits, and services.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building rapport with diverse populations.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and database management.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Experience troubleshooting minor software issues.
- High cultural competency and awareness; adept at employing sensitive strategies for working with diverse populations.
- Strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, with the ability to implement thoughtful strategies for engaging with varied communities.
Physical & Mental Requirements:
- Must be a resident of Washington State at the start date.
- If telecommuting, must provide a private workspace with reliable internet.
- Regular and predictable attendance is required.
- Ability to articulate complex ideas in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to communicate important information to clients and colleagues through various mediums.
- Ability to use a computer for extended periods; adaptive accommodations may be available as needed.
- Some movement within a standard office environment may be required.
