POSITION SUMMARY

The Live-Out Residential Support Specialist plays a vital role in assisting residents by being an integral member of the Permanent Supportive Housing team. This role emphasizes high-quality service delivery, guided by the core values of Plymouth's mission, cultural proficiency, harm reduction principles, and the 'housing first' approach. Key responsibilities include a steadfast commitment to resident well-being, maintaining a consistent staff presence, and supporting the Lead Residential Specialist while nurturing a sense of community.

Work Schedule: Flexibility is required as this position may involve additional hours or varied shifts to ensure continuous building coverage and operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Resident Services

  • Manage all operations in the front lobby, including visitor check-in/out, phone inquiries, and security monitoring.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to provide effective support and resources, acting as a liaison between residents and external service providers.
  • Engage in ongoing outreach to residents, ensuring a welcoming environment and cohesive service delivery.
  • Work alongside Housing Case Managers and Community Specialists to align tenant services with resident goals.
  • Foster strong community relationships through creative strategies that build trust and confidence among residents.
  • Assist residents with unit services, including re-entry support.
  • Utilize de-escalation techniques to mediate conflicts as necessary.
  • Distribute important communications to residents, ensuring accessibility for all.
  • Support offsite property management with tenant communication and work order submissions.
  • Provide guidance and oversight for volunteers and interns as directed.

Building Security & Safety

  • Ensure building security by adhering to safety and emergency protocols.
  • Monitor access areas for unauthorized individuals and report violations.
  • Conduct regular safety checks to promote a positive environment.
  • Respond to emergencies and crises with a focus on harm reduction and trauma-informed care.

Janitorial and Light Maintenance

  • Perform light cleaning and maintenance tasks throughout the facility.
  • Facilitate access for contractors and service representatives.
  • Assist with pest control measures as needed.
  • Move furniture as required.

Administrative Duties

  • Provide general administrative support, including mail distribution and copying.
  • Ensure radios are checked at the beginning and end of shifts.
  • Document significant events accurately in daily logs.
  • Maintain confidentiality and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Promote teamwork and cooperation among colleagues.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Site Director or Residential Services Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience: Prior customer service experience, particularly with low-income households or individuals with disabilities.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in service delivery.
  • Effective communication skills with residents and the public.
  • Ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
  • Experience working with diverse populations.
  • Capacity to work independently and collaboratively.
