Job Summary

The Culinary Preparation Specialist is responsible for the meticulous preparation of high-quality meals and outstanding customer service within the dining facility. This role includes overseeing sanitation practices to ensure compliance with health standards and providing guidance to student and temporary staff.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare meals utilizing various cooking methods including roasting, baking, and skillet techniques.
  • Engage in daily food quality assessments.
  • Complete food preparation tasks for the following day's menu.
  • Assist clients during regular service hours, special events, and collaborate with other departments as necessary.
  • Maintain visibility to customers during service to address inquiries and requests.
  • Perform daily cleaning of equipment and sanitation duties during operational downtimes.
  • Ensure adherence to menus, recipes, production schedules, and quality benchmarks.
  • Monitor staff and food availability during peak periods to minimize waste and ensure adequate food preparation for customers.
Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
Required Experience
  • One (1) year of relevant work experience.
Proposed Salary

$18.64 per hour

This is a non-exempt position compensated on a biweekly basis.

ABILITIES
  • Consistently demonstrate exceptional customer service.
  • Ability to support diverse groups served by the University.
  • Proficient in computer applications including Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
  • Work effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Prepare food in accordance with health and safety regulations.
KNOWLEDGE
  • Adhere to University policies and procedures to support institutional goals.
  • Understanding of safe food handling techniques and equipment.
  • Familiarity with basic cooking methods such as sautéing, broiling, frying, and grilling, along with seasoning and portion control.
  • Knowledge of food service equipment usage.
SKILLS
  • Strong communication (both verbal and written), organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to a customer service-oriented work ethic.
