POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Culinary Support Specialist plays a vital role in the daily functioning of the kitchen environment.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or GED required. Experience in a diverse work setting is preferred. Must embody the core values of the district: relational, purposeful, reflective, resourceful, courageous, and accountable. Ability to satisfactorily perform all essential functions of the role is necessary.

A criminal background check must be provided, adhering to Bulloch County Board of Education Policy GAK(1).


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Prior experience in food service is advantageous.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Accountable to the manager and/or assistant manager for executing assigned tasks and following directives.
Primary responsibilities include:
  • Cooking and preparing meals
  • Documenting food service activities
  • Serving meals to students
  • Maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen area
Must adhere to safety standards to prevent injuries such as cuts or burns. Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.

PERFORMANCE CRITERIA:
Must be capable of performing tasks that involve lifting (5-45 pounds), carrying, pushing, and pulling. Ability to stand and work for extended periods is required.

Interpersonal Skills:

Ability to cultivate and maintain professional relationships characterized by high expectations, teamwork, and collaboration. Flexibility in adapting to daily routines is essential. Sensitivity to the diverse backgrounds of individuals is crucial.


Focus and Concentration:
Ability to maintain workflow and thought processes amidst frequent distractions. Must manage multiple tasks simultaneously with minimal errors.

Handling Stressful Situations:
Ability to produce quality work under tight or unexpected deadlines. Must remain composed when interacting with individuals who may be upset or demanding.

Independent Decision-Making:
Ability to complete tasks without needing detailed instructions.

Organizational Abilities:
Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, and deliver quality work by established deadlines.

Public Interaction:

Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, both verbally and in writing, with superiors, colleagues, parents, and other stakeholders. Must demonstrate professionalism in all interactions and maintain constructive working relationships.


Attendance and Reliability:
Ability to report to work punctually and maintain regular attendance. Must process appropriate documentation for absences in accordance with school system policies. Commitment to completing work accurately and on time is essential.

PERFORMANCE EVALUATION:
Annual evaluations will be conducted by the School Nutrition Manager or designated supervisor in accordance with Policy GBI
  • Evaluation of Personnel.
