Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Human Resources Coordinator for the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. This role is essential in providing comprehensive support to academic faculty and staff.

The coordinator will oversee the recruitment process for lecturers, manage postdoctoral associate appointments, and facilitate faculty hiring initiatives.

It is crucial to maintain a thorough understanding of the UVM Job Architecture for classified staff, assisting supervisors in crafting and refining staff position descriptions in collaboration with central HR as necessary.

In this role, you will support the CALS HR Administrator in the overall management of human resources within the college. Utilizing independent judgment and problem-solving skills, you will interpret and apply the terms of faculty and staff union contracts.

Responsibilities include delegating and assigning transactional tasks to unit process coordinators, as well as determining when to escalate issues to the CALS HR Administrator or Associate Dean.

Proficiency in various software applications, including PeopleSoft and PeopleAdmin, is essential. Regular office hours will be held on campus to provide in-person assistance to CALS faculty and staff.

Minimum Qualifications
A bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field is required, along with two to four years of relevant experience in an administrative capacity. A minimum of one year of experience in HR-related tasks is necessary.

Applicants should demonstrate proficiency with software applications that support office functions and possess familiarity with internet resources. Strong organizational, interpersonal, communication, and writing skills are essential, along with meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.

Confidentiality is paramount, and candidates must exhibit the ability to work collaboratively within a team while also being capable of independent work.

Desirable Qualifications
Previous experience in Human Resources, particularly with collective bargaining agreements related to unions, is advantageous. Experience in higher education and project management is also preferred.

Anticipated Pay Range
$60,000 to $67,000
