Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Business Operations Coordinator to join our team at InsideHigherEd. The successful candidate will serve as the business operations coordinator for the offices of the Dean of Students, Center for Student Conduct, and Student and Community Relations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide broad guidance on and management of human resources, financial resources, and general business operations in alignment with the strategic direction provided by departmental leadership and divisional and institutional priorities.
  • Participate in strategic decision making through financial and staffing analyses and proposals, and business process development and implementation.
  • Oversee human resources and financial process administration, prioritizing efficiency, compliance, and responsible resource management.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact to ensure that these offices have the necessary processes, training, coordination, and oversight to successfully partner with central units such as the Administrative Business Service Center (ABSC), Human Resources, and Financial Services.
  • Work directly with departmental staff on HR matters for full-time professional employees on performance management, recruiting, retention, staff transition planning and processes, policy interpretation and compliance.
  • Support budgets exceeding $1.5 million.
  • Participate in contract reviews and creation of requisitions; support invoicing and vendor management.
  • As a member of the division's business management team, coordinate and lead initiatives and projects that improve business operations across the unit.
  • May represent DOSA on divisional or institutional committees to internal and external constituents.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 3 years' relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to actively engage in developing and implementing business processes that promote and support equity and inclusion.
  • Skills: Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency with standard productivity software (such as the Microsoft Office Suite), with intermediate to advanced knowledge of spreadsheet applications required. Effective organizational skills and ability to think critically, plan effectively, and problem solve.
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with human resources and budget management.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with enterprise HR and financial software such as PeopleSoft and PeopleAdmin.
  • Experience working in a higher education setting.
Working Conditions
  • Open to current UVM employees only.
  • A probationary period may be required.
  • Occasional evening and/or weekends required (if non-exempt position, may result in overtime).
  • This position is eligible for a hybrid schedule with an option to split time between campus and elsewhere, in accordance with the university telecommuting policy.
