Job Summary:

The Burlington School District is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Library/Media Specialist to join our team at the Sustainability Academy. As a key member of our educational community, this individual will be responsible for providing a rich and engaging Learning Center environment that fosters intellectual growth and supports the development of essential skills for all students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive library media program that aligns with the district's educational goals and objectives.
  • Provide professional development opportunities for staff to integrate technology across the curriculum.
  • Collaborate with teachers to develop curricular models and resources that support the integration of technology and information literacy.
  • Manage the Learning Center's collection of materials and resources to ensure they are relevant and engaging for students.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community partners to support the district's educational mission.

Requirements:

  • Licensed or eligible for a Vermont Educators License.
  • Endorsement as a Library Media Specialist or eligible for a Vt Provisional License.
  • Eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience in overseeing a school library or school-wide literacy initiative.
  • Training or experience providing technology professional development for faculty.
  • Training or experience with information literacy curriculum and its integration into K-12 curriculum.
  • Training or experience with technology applications and their integration into K-12 curriculum.

Benefits and Terms:

  • Salary: As per the collective bargaining agreement between the Burlington Board of School Commissioners and the Burlington Education Association.
  • School Year: 10 months, 187 workdays (based on start date).
  • Benefits: Eligible on start date, 30 days to enroll in coverage from start date.
  • PAID TIME: Sick Time / Personal Time As per the collective bargaining agreement.
