As a Senior Project Engineer, you embody a unique blend of technical knowledge and project management expertise.

Your role encompasses the development, coordination, and assessment of designs and technical standards for Recurrent Energy's large-scale solar and battery energy storage projects, overseeing engineering service providers to ensure excellence.


At the heart of this position, as a Senior Project Engineer, you are a master coordinator, uniting stakeholders at all levels to ensure effective and profitable project outcomes.

This role offers the flexibility to work REMOTELY with travel opportunities across the US or Canada.

Key Responsibilities:


• Develop, coordinate, and evaluate designs for Recurrent Energy projects (including permitting and construction support, customer service, and sales assistance).

• Supervise the work of engineering service providers and consultants.

• Establish, maintain, and enhance technical specifications for Recurrent Energy facilities and equipment.


• Provide technical guidance and oversight during the design and construction phases of projects, ensuring value-added engineering aligns with project specifications and requirements.

• Support the performance optimization and LCOE (Levelized Cost of Energy) processes for Recurrent Energy projects.

• Offer technical assistance in the preparation and review of client proposals and EPC/equipment RFP packages.

• Engage in the evaluation and selection of EPC and primary equipment suppliers.


• Contribute to the preparation, review, and negotiation of technical exhibits for project sales, equipment procurement, and EPC contracting agreements.

• Conduct technical site assessments and pre-design site evaluations.

• Provide engineering and QA/QC support to the project management team throughout construction and commissioning phases.

• Attend factory acceptance tests for high voltage and electrical equipment.

• Collaborate with the transmission engineering team to provide technical support for interconnection.

• Offer technical direction during startup, testing, commissioning, and performance monitoring of PV systems.

• Refine procedures for collaboration between development and engineering teams, as well as between project managers and engineering staff.

• Evaluate PV products, emerging technologies, and best practices within the solar EPC sector.

Financial & Organizational Scope:

• Jointly accountable for project budgets ranging from $100–500 million.

• Communicate and influence effectively across various functions within Recurrent Energy.

• Oversee consultant scopes and associated financial aspects.

Reporting Relationships & Interactions:

• Reports to the Senior Manager of Project Engineering.

• Collaborates cross-functionally with all departments.

• Manages consultant work orders to ensure adherence to scope, schedule, quality, and coordination requirements.

• Interfaces with third-party engineering service providers and subcontractors.

Qualifications:

• Extensive knowledge of IEEE and other governing standards for solar PV system design.

• Familiarity with engineering, procurement, and construction processes for solar and BESS projects.

• Understanding of engineering economics and design optimization principles.

• Knowledge of project contract terms, including PPAs, interconnection agreements, and real estate.


• In-depth expertise in either DC/AC electrical systems, high voltage equipment, civil design, or structural design/calculations for utility-scale solar projects.

Experience & Education:

• A minimum of a bachelor's degree in an Engineering or Technical discipline.

• 3-5 years of progressive experience in engineering, procurement, and construction of utility-scale solar PV systems.

• Professional Engineer or equivalent regulatory body license is advantageous.

• Willingness to travel up to 25%.
