As a Lead Project Engineer, you embody the ideal blend of technical knowledge and project oversight skills.


Your role involves the creation, coordination, and assessment of designs and technical benchmarks for Recurrent Energy's large-scale solar and battery energy storage projects, overseeing engineering service providers to accomplish this objective.


At the heart of your position, as a Lead Project Engineer, you are a master facilitator, uniting stakeholders at all levels for successful and efficient project completions.

This role offers the possibility to work REMOTELY with travel flexibility across the US or Canada.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Develop, coordinate, and review designs for Recurrent Energy projects (including permitting and construction support, customer engagement, and sales assistance).
  • Oversee the efforts of engineering service providers and consultants.
  • Establish, maintain, and enhance technical specifications for Recurrent Energy facilities and equipment.
  • Provide technical guidance and oversight during the design and construction phases of projects, including value-added engineering in line with the necessary project specifications and requirements.
  • Support the performance and LCOE optimization processes of Recurrent Energy projects.
  • Offer technical assistance for the review/preparation of client proposals and EPC/equipment RFP packages.
  • Engage in the evaluation and selection of EPC and primary equipment suppliers.
  • Contribute to the preparation, review, and negotiation of technical exhibits for project sales, equipment procurement, and EPC contracting agreements.
  • Conduct technical site assessment reviews and pre-design site evaluations.
  • Provide engineering and QA/QC support to the project management team throughout project construction and commissioning.
  • Participate in factory acceptance tests for HV and electrical equipment.
  • Offer technical support for interconnection in collaboration with the transmission engineering team.
  • Deliver technical direction during startup, testing, PV system commissioning, and performance monitoring.
  • Refine procedures for the interface between development and engineering as well as between project managers and engineering.
  • Evaluate PV products, emerging technologies, and best practices in the solar EPC sector.
Financial & Organizational Scope

Reporting Relationships & Interactions

  • Collectively accountable for project budgets ranging from $100 million to $500 million.


  • Communicate and influence cross-functionally within Recurrent Energy.
  • Responsible for consultant scopes and associated costs.
  • Reports to Senior Manager, Project Engineering.
  • Collaborates cross-functionally with all departments.
  • Manages consultant work orders to ensure scope, schedule, quality, and coordination requirements are fulfilled.
  • Interfaces with third-party engineering service providers and subcontractors.
Requirements

Knowledge & Skills

  • Extensive knowledge of IEEE and other governing standards for the design of solar PV systems.
  • Understanding of solar and BESS project engineering, procurement, and construction processes.
  • Knowledge of engineering economics and design optimization.
  • Familiarity with project contract terms including PPAs, interconnection agreements, and real estate.
  • In-depth knowledge of either DC/AC electrical systems, HV equipment, civil design, or SAT structural design/calculations for utility-scale solar projects.

Experience & Education

  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree in an Engineering or Technical field.
  • 3-5 years of progressive experience in engineering, procurement, and construction of utility-scale solar PV systems.
  • Professional Engineer or equivalent regulatory body license is a plus.
Other Comments

Travel may be required up to 25%.
