About This Role

WSP is seeking a Lead Water/Wastewater Project Engineer to join our team. Your primary responsibilities will include overseeing the coordination of water and wastewater facility projects, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and client expectations. You will play a vital role in a significant infrastructure project aimed at improving urban water management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Water/Wastewater Business Line Leader to identify project opportunities within the metropolitan area.
  • Guide and mentor junior engineers in the planning, design, and execution of water and wastewater projects.
  • Manage assigned projects, ensuring adherence to scope, timelines, and budgetary constraints.
  • Conduct technical assessments, including site evaluations, data analysis, and hydraulic modeling; prepare comprehensive engineering reports and documentation.

Qualifications

Essential Skills
  • Proven experience in executing projects for municipal water utilities, particularly in pipeline and treatment facilities.
  • Strong relationships with municipal clients, demonstrating effective communication and project management skills.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Over 10 years of relevant experience in water/wastewater engineering, showcasing critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Leadership experience in guiding teams through complex engineering projects.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of conveying complex ideas to diverse audiences.
  • In-depth knowledge of water/wastewater engineering principles and environmental regulations.
  • Professional Engineer license in Texas is mandatory.
  • Experience in conducting inspections and ensuring compliance with design standards.
  • Ability to work autonomously while providing guidance to project teams.
  • Proficient in technical writing and using engineering software tools.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to company policies.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing project needs and schedules.
  • Willingness to travel as required for project assignments.
Preferred Skills
  • Master's Degree in Engineering.
  • Completion of OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER).
  • Basic First Aid and CPR certification is advantageous.
