Position Overview

DPR Construction is in search of a seasoned project engineer to enhance our operations. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial construction. The project engineer will oversee various commercial projects across our primary sectors: advanced technology, healthcare, higher education, and life sciences.

Key Responsibilities

The project engineer will collaborate closely with all project team members and will be accountable for the following tasks:
  • Implementing and adhering to DPR's environmental health and safety protocols to ensure a safe work environment, including conducting weekly safety inspections.
  • Mentoring and developing team members to foster rapid professional growth.
  • Supervising other project engineering staff.
  • Understanding and enforcing contractual agreements between DPR and subcontractors, as well as DPR and clients.
  • Assisting the project manager and superintendent in applying DPR policies and executing project plans.
  • Coordinating the activities of other engineers, field office coordinators, project accountants, and additional project personnel, providing guidance and performance feedback.
  • Engaging in training sessions and company meetings to promote individual and organizational development.
  • Organizing and digitally archiving project documentation for streamlined access by the project team.
  • Preparing, monitoring, and updating project timelines, collaborating with the superintendent to address scheduling challenges.
  • Managing various document control processes, including daily reports, procurement logs, submittal logs, as-built documents, inspection logs, RFI logs, and change order logs.
  • Distributing updated drawings, modifications, approved submittals, RFI responses, and other relevant project information to all stakeholders.
  • Identifying, compiling, negotiating, and disseminating change orders to both clients and subcontractors.
  • Preparing agendas, documentation, meeting minutes, and action items for various meetings, including those with owners, architects, contractors, and subcontractors.
  • Participating in project cost management, maintaining internal records, and collaborating with subcontractors to ensure timely payment for changes.
  • Compiling owner billing by consolidating DPR costs, reviewing subcontractor invoices, and organizing documentation per the owner's specifications.
Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, project management software (such as CMiC or Prolog), scheduling tools (like Primavera), and BIM software (including AutoCAD, Revit, or Navisworks).
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a project engineer, ideally within DPR's core sectors.
  • A bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related discipline.
  • A robust work ethic, a positive attitude, and a passion for the construction industry.
