Position Overview:

The Environmental Compliance Analyst III plays a crucial role within the Environmental Office, focusing on the delivery of various environmental programs related to regional, capital, and maintenance operations. This position is centered on facilitating project execution by supplying essential technical, biological, regulatory, and procedural information necessary for environmental stewardship in accordance with state and federal regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct assessments of natural resources, including wetland identification and stream evaluations;
  • Facilitate effective communication both verbally and in writing with internal teams, external agencies, contractors, municipalities, and the public;
  • Implement the Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act, and the Maine Natural Resources Protection Act in relevant activities;
  • Prepare clear and comprehensive documentation to support permitting and review processes in line with established procedures;
  • Evaluate contractor-prepared Soil Erosion and Water Pollution Control Plans and offer technical guidance on Best Management Practices for erosion and sedimentation control;
  • Possess a foundational understanding of hazardous waste and groundwater quality policies, and participate in relevant audits and training;
  • Perform basic hydrological assessments, including watershed delineation and channel flow analysis.

Qualifications:

To qualify for this position, candidates must demonstrate a combination of education and experience totaling six (6) years in environmental, biological, physical science, or engineering fields, which includes at least two (2) years of direct environmental experience. Educational qualifications must encompass a minimum of 15 credit hours in science or engineering from an accredited institution.
