Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Analyst to join our team at the City of Augusta GA. As a Financial Analyst, you will play a critical role in the administration and coordination of financial information, budget preparation, and financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the preparation of financial reports, including the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (Annual Report), financial statements, and other reports.
  • Assist in the preparation of budget requests, monitor expenditures, and ensure compliance with fiscal restraints.
  • Interpret financial data, explain financial processes, and advise on resources and assumptions underlying budget forecasts.
  • Prepare comparative analyses of operating programs and submit reports to management with recommendations for budget revision.
  • Conduct special cost/benefit studies on the fiscal impact of management decisions and proposals.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance with an emphasis in accounting.
  • Five years of experience in governmental accounting, financial analysis, and/or financial reporting.
  • Considerable knowledge of procedures and requirements for budget preparation, review, and analysis.
  • Familiarity with relevant federal, state, and local laws and county policies and procedures.
  • Proficiency in principles of generally accepted accounting practices, planning, organizing, establishing priorities, and interpersonal relations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Current CPA, CGFM, or CPFO certification.
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication and analytical skills. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of financial principles and practices, as well as the ability to interpret and analyze financial data.
