Position Overview:

The State of Maine, Bureau of Human Resources is seeking a dedicated Senior Environmental Analyst to join our Environmental Office team. This role is pivotal in supporting various environmental initiatives and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

- Serve as a primary resource for environmental guidance in regional projects, focusing on technical, biological, and regulatory aspects.
- Conduct assessments of natural resources, including wetland evaluations and stream assessments.
- Facilitate effective communication with internal teams, external agencies, contractors, and the public to promote environmental stewardship.
- Apply relevant environmental legislation, including the Clean Water Act and the Endangered Species Act, to organizational activities.
- Prepare and review documentation for permitting processes, ensuring adherence to established procedures.
- Evaluate contractor-developed Soil Erosion and Water Pollution Control Plans, providing technical support on best practices for erosion and sediment control.
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of hazardous waste policies and groundwater quality standards.

Qualifications:

To be considered for this position, candidates must demonstrate:
- A minimum of six years of combined education and experience in environmental science, biological sciences, physical sciences, or engineering, including at least two years of direct environmental experience.
- Completion of at least 15 credit hours in science or engineering coursework from an accredited institution.
