Key Responsibilities

Noblis MSD is dedicated to supporting the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) and the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWCPD) in their vital missions, which encompass research, development, testing, evaluation, acquisition, engineering, systems integration, cybersecurity, comprehensive logistics, and life-cycle savings. We are currently seeking a Marine Control Systems Engineer to provide engineering and technical assistance for U.S. Navy Hull, Mechanical, and Electrical (HM&E) programs. This role will be based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

The Marine Control Systems Engineer position is a full-time role that includes a mix of remote and onsite work at the Navy Yard in Philadelphia. The selected candidate will be responsible for testing and troubleshooting ship steering systems and leading technical updates of existing systems.

  • Conduct Shipboard Operability Verification Tests for steering systems.
  • Evaluate integration with steering peripheral equipment, including Hydraulic Power Units and Machinery Control Systems.
  • Travel to fleet concentration areas for technical installations, training, and repairs, with travel requirements up to 25%.
  • Facilitate crew training related to new system installations and operations.
  • Provide subject matter expertise during status meetings.
  • Complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Develop, troubleshoot, and refine system and software requirements for future systems (PLC-based control systems) both at the Land-Based Engineering Site (LBES) and onboard ships.
  • Offer test support at LBES and assist with software and hardware installations.
  • Provide feedback and lessons learned for test plans and technical documentation.
  • This position requires at least 75% of the workload to be onsite at LBES, with the remainder of the time available for remote work.

Required Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field, along with a minimum of three years of technical experience in designing electrical and mechanical systems, or a minimum of nine years of related experience, such as active military service as an Electronics Technician (ET) or Electronics Technician (ETV). Additional experience in electronics or electrical fields may also be considered.

A Secret Clearance or the ability to obtain one is required.

Candidates must be willing and able to travel up to 25%, both domestically and internationally (passport required).

  • Understanding of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures related to industrial control systems.
  • Proficiency in using software-based diagnostic tools associated with industrial control systems.
  • Familiarity with PLC systems such as Rockwell or Siemens.
  • Competence in basic computer operations, including advanced functionalities.
  • Basic knowledge of network troubleshooting tools.
  • Strong technical writing skills and the ability to edit electrical diagrams.
  • Self-motivated with the capability to complete tasks efficiently.
  • Effective communication skills within an integrated team environment.
