Position Summary:
The Marine Rigging Specialist will be responsible for executing specialized rigging tasks using various equipment such as hoists, ropes, and slings. This role involves selecting and attaching appropriate gear for lifting and moving heavy machinery and structural components. The successful candidate will also engage in the fabrication, installation, and repair of rigging systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate knowledge of NAVFAC P 307 requirements.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and practices.
- Oversee safe boat operations as a Boat Coxswain, ensuring compliance with safety measures.
- Guide and assist Rigger Helpers and other trades as needed.
- Manage the check-in and check-out process for all rigging equipment.
- Ensure proper marking and maintenance of rigging gear.
- Be prepared to travel as required for company operations.
- Comply with environmental protection procedures.
- Assist in the mooring and departure of vessels.
- Uphold corporate values and policies in all job functions.
- Collaborate effectively with team members in a professional manner.
- Be available for overtime work when necessary.
- Handle weights up to 100 pounds and carry items over distances as needed.
- Perform climbing and maneuvering tasks in various conditions.
- Complete additional tasks as assigned that align with skillset and project needs.
Qualifications:
- Intermediate proficiency in rigging tasks, including load dynamics and weight estimation.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents.
- Knowledge of basic mechanical systems and appropriate work procedures.
- Valid driver's license and ability to operate company vehicles safely.
Preferred Experience:
- Three years of experience in rigging or relevant military experience.
Certification Requirements:
- Complete NAVFAC P-307 Rigging Practices exam within the specified timeframe.
- Achieve qualifications as a Workboat Crewmember and Forklift Operator within designated periods.
- Become certified as a Signalman within the required timeframe.
