Advanced Flight Control Systems Safety Engineer

We are looking for a committed Advanced Flight Control Systems Safety Engineer to become a vital part of our client's innovative team within the Engineering Directorate, specializing in rotorcraft flight control systems for products developed in the United States.

Key Responsibilities:


• Execute the safety processes for Flight Control Systems in line with ARP4761. Generate Functional Hazard Assessments (FHA), Design Assessments (DA), and System Safety Assessments (SSA) for Flight Control Systems that encompass intricate hardware and software components.


• Perform fault tree analysis and pinpoint design, maintenance, and inspection requirements necessary for safety risk mitigation.


• Assist in the derivation, verification, and validation of requirements derived from safety considerations.


• Incorporate supplier safety evaluations into the company's safety documentation.


• Collaborate with suppliers on safety-related issues, ensuring the provision of high-quality safety data.


• Engage with regulatory bodies such as the FAA on matters pertaining to safety.


• Work closely with teams across different geographies on Flight Control Systems.

Primary Duties:


• Conduct safety analyses to support the design, development, and certification of aircraft for US products (including models such as AW609, AW119, AW139).


• Prepare relevant documentation and interact with stakeholders to ensure acceptance of hazard classifications, while developing and monitoring metrics to report on status.


• Coordinate the validation of safety assumptions and the collection of necessary artifacts.


• Interface with the FAA, DERs, and/or other regulatory agencies to substantiate assessments and aircraft designs concerning safety.


• Oversee and manage vendor activities and deliverables in collaboration with supply chain management.

Qualifications:


• Bachelor of Science in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.


• More than 5 years of professional experience in aerospace system safety, applying ARP-4761 or NASA CSRM methodologies.


• A minimum of 2 years of experience in commercial aircraft certification programs.


• Proficient in Systems Engineering standards such as ARP-4754, ARP-4761, or NASA CSRM.


• Experienced in using Fault Tree Analysis tools, including Isograph Reliability Workbench.


• Familiarity with aerospace standards like DO-160, DO-178, DO-254, and FAA Certification Specifications FAR Part 25 and Part 29.


• A comprehensive understanding of the complete Systems Engineering life cycle and a foundational knowledge of aircraft flight controls.
