We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Controls Engineer to join our team at Barry-Wehmiller. As a key member of our Control System Integration Practice, you will be responsible for designing, programming, and implementing control systems for our clients in the food & beverage, life science, and advanced technology sectors.
Key Responsibilities- Design and implement control system architectures, including PLCs, HMIs, and industrial networks.
- Lead project execution, including team leadership, project scope, quality of deliverables, budget, and schedule.
- Maintain and grow solid client relationships.
- Develop and implement automation solutions to improve client performance and meet their goals.
- Program and troubleshoot control systems, including Rockwell and HMI/SCADA systems.
- Mentor and share knowledge with other controls engineers.
- Participate in various automation project phases, including installation, checkout, and start-up.
- A minimum of eight years of direct experience as a controls engineer working on automated processes/system integration in a food, beverage, consumer health product, or other industrial manufacturing environment.
- A track record of proficiency in control systems, troubleshooting, and working in high-intensity environments.
- Experience in the design and implementation of control system architectures, including PLC, HMI, industrial networks, and related automation hardware/software.
- A solid understanding of industrial control panel design and fabrication (UL508A).
- Engineering consulting experience (preferred).
- The ability to successfully interact with clients.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Superior analytical and problem-solving skills.
- A willingness to travel for project requirements, including installation and start-up activities, client and company-sponsored meetings, trainings, industry-related seminars, forums, and conventions.
- A Bachelor of Science in electrical, mechanical, chemical engineering, or a related degree (preferred).
