We are seeking a skilled Quality Engineer to become a vital part of our Effectors Operations Quality team. This role is crucial in a fast-paced, multi-value stream manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will be a proactive self-starter who can effectively manage quality standards, manufacturing goals, and continuous improvement initiatives while achieving results in a collaborative setting.

This position is essential for a manufacturing effort that thrives in a dynamic and demanding atmosphere, where successful quality execution is pivotal to overall success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure product and process adherence to contractual, technical, industry, AS9100 Quality Management System (QMS) standards, and internal protocols.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with production staff, factory leadership, program management, and oversight agencies.
  • Conduct regular data analysis; develop and utilize actionable metrics, including the generation and dissemination of Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) metrics.
  • Lead cross-functional teams in failure analysis and Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) investigations, identifying non-conformances, proposing solutions, and tracking issues to resolution.
  • Manage the identification, physical control, and disposition of non-conforming materials, facilitating Material Review Board (MRB) processes as needed.
  • Support the development and maintenance of work instructions by reviewing documentation, auditing processes, and ensuring configuration management.
  • Create and maintain inspection instructions that align with technical data package requirements and production needs.
  • Oversee the development and release of First Article Inspections (FAIs) in compliance with AS9102.
  • Regularly engage with Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA) and internal stakeholders to address issues.
  • Conduct weekly meetings aimed at reducing the cost of poor quality and ensuring timely resolutions.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM).
  • At least five (5) years of experience in Quality, Operations, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings, work instructions, Bill of Materials (BOMs), and manufacturing processes in areas such as assembly, inspection, or testing.
  • Familiarity with AS9102 First Article Inspection requirements.
  • Knowledge of AS9100 and/or ISO 9001 quality management systems.
  • Capability to obtain and maintain an ATF (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives) clearance prior to employment.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government-issued security clearance is mandatory prior to employment commencement.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Expertise in a relevant technical discipline with a solid understanding of engineering principles and design analysis techniques.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams in auditing processes and enhancing product/process quality in manufacturing or supplier environments.
  • Background in Product/Process Failure Modes & Effects Analysis, Regression Analysis.
  • Familiarity with AS9145 - Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP).
  • High proficiency in computer applications, particularly Microsoft Tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio).
  • ASQ Certifications are advantageous.

Clearance Information:

Surrounded by stunning mountains and the picturesque Sonoran Desert, Tucson boasts over 310 sunny days annually, allowing residents to enjoy outdoor activities year-round.

The salary range for this role is between 77,000 USD and 163,000 USD, reflecting a good faith estimate across various experience levels. RTX considers multiple factors when extending offers, including role responsibilities, candidate experience, education, and key skills. Hired applicants may be eligible for a range of benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and more. Specific benefits depend on the business unit and collective bargaining agreements.

This role is based in the U.S. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the applicable pay structure and benefits will apply. RTX anticipates the application window will close approximately 40 days from the posting date, but this may change based on candidate flow and business needs.
