Position Overview:
At Nightwing, our mission is to empower our nation and allies through innovative solutions and exceptional engineering. We are currently seeking a Quality Engineer II to enhance our operational processes and ensure the highest standards of quality in our manufacturing facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and facilitate problem-solving teams aimed at minimizing product defects.
- Provide expert guidance on the implementation of the Quality Management System (QMS).
- Collaborate with the Manufacturing Engineering team to integrate quality attributes into production planning.
- Utilize quality tools proactively to achieve zero-defect performance.
- Establish and oversee inspection planning.
- Conduct audits of production processes.
- Coordinate with Supply Chain Management and Supplier Quality to monitor supplier-related issues and certifications.
- Drive corrective actions, maintain closed-loop process controls, and promote continuous improvement methodologies.
- Develop charts for tracking and reporting on quality data related to product and process predictability and capability.
- Perform inspections of products and materials, including Peer Reviews and First Article Inspections (FAI).
- Manage nonconforming materials effectively.
- Work closely with operations teams to analyze defective materials and determine corrective actions.
Learning Opportunities:
- Gain comprehensive knowledge of the Nightwing Quality Management System, which will be beneficial in any engineering role.
- Opportunity to train and achieve certification as a Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), recognized both within and outside of Nightwing.
Required Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM preferred) with a minimum of 2 years of relevant engineering experience.
- Alternatively, a minimum of 6 years of engineering support experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Experience in reviewing schematic drawings during the assembly process.
- Proficiency in utilizing quality tools such as Pareto analysis and cause/effect diagrams.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in developing and executing containment plans following noncompliance events.
- Ability to interface effectively with customers to meet business requirements.
- Understanding of drawings, work instructions, and Bill of Materials (BOMs).
- Familiarity with Advanced Product Quality Planning tools, including PFMEA and Statistical Process Control.
