Position Overview:
As a Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer at Nightwing, you will serve as the key liaison between our supplier network and internal teams involved in advanced defense programs. Your role is critical in ensuring that our suppliers meet the stringent quality standards required for our operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate the communication of product specifications and quality expectations to both internal teams and sub-tier suppliers through various documentation.
- Ensure that suppliers fully comprehend and adhere to quality standards and requirements.
- Evaluate quality requirements and determine their applicability to procured components.
- Conduct on-site inspections and corrective action assessments.
- Engage in design evaluations, process modifications, and qualification testing reviews.
- Promote ongoing enhancements in product and process quality by identifying supplier risks and performance issues, employing methodologies such as Root Cause Analysis and Lean Six Sigma.
- Implement continuous improvement strategies to enhance product and process quality.
- Lead program reviews, supplier evaluations, and technical discussions.
- Conduct assessments of supplier manufacturing processes to minimize risks.
- Review supplier documentation and processes to ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Apply Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) principles to enhance supplier performance.
- Represent quality interests during review sessions concerning supplier changes and process modifications.
- Assess internal and supplier change requests and related documentation.
- Willingness to travel as necessary to support supplier evaluations and audits.
- Act as a professional representative of Nightwing, embodying our values and commitment to quality.
Learning Opportunities:
- Manage a diverse supplier base across various engineering disciplines.
- Deepen your knowledge of APQP processes.
- Engage with key external stakeholders.
Qualifications Required:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Engineering or Technology.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in quality assurance or a related engineering field.
- Familiarity with quality tools such as Statistical Process Control (SPC), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP).
- Experience in conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective measures.
- Knowledge of quality management standards such as ISO 9001 or AS9100.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and inspection methods.
- Must possess a valid security clearance or be eligible for one.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications in Six Sigma or Lean methodologies.
- Demonstrated success in building and maintaining supplier relationships.
- Experience in overseeing DoD products and processes.
- Proficiency in project planning and remote collaboration.
- Familiarity with quality management systems and industry standards.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to influence stakeholders effectively.
