Job Overview:


As a Quality Assurance Operations Engineer, you will collaborate with diverse teams through both in-person and virtual interactions in a dynamic setting filled with stimulating challenges.

Your role will involve working closely with Manufacturing Engineers, Product Test Engineers, Design Engineers, Production Associates, Management, and clients to ensure compliance with product and process standards, enhance operational efficiencies, and achieve organizational objectives.

Your expertise will be recognized and will play a vital role in advancing the success of RTX Operations Quality.

The Operations Quality Team leads the integration and execution of quality practices and processes within the manufacturing environment.

We act as the primary quality liaison with operations, providing guidance and support for quality and continuous improvement initiatives.


The Quality Assurance Operations Engineer is tasked with ensuring adherence to the Quality Management System (QMS) requirements, supporting various product lifecycle stages, collaborating with program leaders and teams, spearheading improvement initiatives, and executing functional projects.

Key Responsibilities:
Provide Subject Matter Expertise (SME) on the application of the Quality Management System (QMS)

Conduct process evaluations to identify best practices and apply insights to enhance QMS effectiveness

Collaborate with the Manufacturing Engineering team to ensure quality attributes are integrated into production planning

Employ APQP methodologies to oversee quality-production processes

Proactively utilize quality tools to promote zero-defect performance

Establish and determine inspection strategies

Execute production process audits

Coordinate with Supply Chain Management and Supplier Quality to monitor supplier issues and certifications

Facilitate corrective actions, closed-loop process controls, and continuous improvement strategies

Analyze and validate defects caused by factory or supplier issues and source inspection data

Create charts for monitoring and reporting quality data related to product/process predictability and capability

Conduct product/material inspections (Peer Review, FAI, Prove-in, Test witness)

Manage and control nonconforming materials

Collaborate with operations/production teams to analyze and strategize for defective materials

Track defect data and maintain feedback to support closed-loop actions

Compile and evaluate quality data (e.g., engineering changes, non-conformances, test issues, test outcomes).

Develop and present quality reports and presentations to program/facility/business management.

Required Qualifications:
Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM)

Minimum of two years of engineering experience, including quality engineering or manufacturing engineering

Experience interpreting technical drawings

Proficient in root cause analysis and corrective action methodologies

Familiarity with quality tools (e.g., Pareto analysis, cause/effect diagrams, process mapping)

  • An active and transferable U.S. government-issued security clearance is required prior to the start date. U.S. citizenship is necessary, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree in STEM

Knowledge of CMM/CMMI/SCAMPI model methodologies

Experience in developing and executing holistic containment plans following noncompliance events

Experience conducting First Article Inspections or completing the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)

Experience interacting with customers or customer representatives to meet business needs

Certifications in ASQ

Experience with MRP systems

Experience supporting AS9100 or equivalent audits

Familiarity with Advanced Product Quality Planning tools (e.g., PFMEA, Control Plans, Capability Studies, Statistical Process Control, Measurement System Analysis)

Understanding of descriptive statistics and statistical control methodologies, including statistical software

Ability to interpret and translate external and internal requirements into effective work instructions

Capability to understand drawings, work instructions, Bill of Materials (BOMs), consumable materials control, process disciplines, and tool control

Level 4 Mission Assurance Certification (internal candidates only)

Work Environment:
This position requires direct support of manufacturing activities and necessitates time spent in and around factory areas.

The salary range for this role is 64,000 USD - 128,000 USD. This range is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.

RTX considers various factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to the role, function, responsibilities, work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Specific benefits depend on the business unit and whether the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.


Hired applicants may qualify for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs based on the position level and whether it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

Payments under these programs are not guaranteed and depend on various factors, including individual performance, business unit performance, and/or company performance.This role is based in the U.S. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
