We are currently seeking an Operations Quality Engineer II to support our manufacturing facilities. This role involves collaborating with production teams to analyze product defect data and working alongside various engineering disciplines to implement corrective measures that prevent recurrence of defects. Proficiency in leading teams or participating in collaborative efforts to resolve product quality issues is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and facilitate problem-solving teams aimed at reducing product defects.
  • Provide expert input on the application of the Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Collaborate with the Manufacturing Engineering team to ensure quality characteristics are integrated into production planning.
  • Utilize quality tools proactively to achieve zero-defect performance.
  • Establish and manage inspection planning processes.
  • Conduct audits of production processes.
  • Coordinate with Supply Chain Management and Supplier Quality to track supplier issues and certifications.
  • Lead corrective actions, implement closed-loop process controls, and promote continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Create visual representations for tracking and reporting quality data related to product and process capabilities.
  • Conduct inspections of products and materials.
  • Manage nonconforming materials effectively.
  • Work closely with operations teams to analyze defective materials and determine corrective actions.

Learning Opportunities:

  • Gain in-depth knowledge of the Nightwing Quality Management System, which is beneficial for any engineering role within the organization.
  • Opportunity to train and achieve certification as a Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), recognized both internally and externally.

Required Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM preferred) with a minimum of 2 years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Alternatively, a minimum of 6 years of engineering support experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience in reviewing schematic drawings as part of the assembly process.
  • Familiarity with quality tools such as Pareto analysis and cause/effect diagrams.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in developing and executing containment plans following noncompliance events.
  • Ability to interface with customers to support business requirements.
  • Understanding of drawings, work instructions, and Bill of Materials (BOMs).
  • Knowledge of Advanced Product Quality Planning tools.
