We are seeking a skilled Quality Engineer to become a vital part of our Effectors Operations Quality team, which operates within a fast-paced, multi-value stream manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will be a proactive self-starter, adept at enforcing quality standards, achieving manufacturing goals, and fostering continuous improvement within a collaborative framework.

This role is essential to our manufacturing operations, demanding the ability to thrive in a dynamic and demanding setting where effective quality management is crucial to our overall success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure product and process adherence to contractual, technical, industry, AS9100 Quality Management System (QMS) standards, and internal guidelines.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with production staff, factory leadership, program management, and the Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA).
  • Conduct regular data analysis and develop actionable metrics, including the generation and dissemination of Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) metrics.
  • Lead cross-functional teams in failure analysis and Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) investigations, addressing non-conformances, proposing solutions, and ensuring issues are resolved.
  • Manage the identification, control, and resolution of non-conforming materials, facilitating Material Review Board (MRB) processes as needed.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of work instructions by reviewing documentation, auditing processes, and ensuring compliance with configuration management.
  • Create and maintain inspection instructions that align with technical data package requirements and production needs.
  • Oversee the development and release of First Article Inspections (FAIs) in compliance with AS9102 standards.
  • Regularly engage with DCMA and internal stakeholders to address and manage quality-related issues.
  • Conduct weekly meetings aimed at reducing costs associated with poor quality and ensuring timely resolutions.

Required Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM).
  • At least five (5) years of experience in Quality, Operations, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings, work instructions, Bill of Materials (BOMs), and manufacturing processes in areas such as assembly, inspection, or testing.
  • Familiarity with AS9102 First Article Inspection requirements.
  • Knowledge of AS9100 and/or ISO 9001 quality management systems.
  • Capability to obtain and maintain an ATF (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives) clearance prior to employment.
  • An active and transferable U.S. government-issued security clearance is mandatory prior to employment. U.S. citizenship is required for security clearance eligibility.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a relevant technical discipline with a solid understanding of engineering principles and design analysis techniques.
  • Proven experience in leading cross-functional teams in auditing processes and implementing product/process improvements in manufacturing or supplier environments.
  • Familiarity with Product/Process Failure Modes & Effects Analysis and Regression Analysis.
  • Knowledge of AS9145 - Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP).
  • High proficiency in computer applications, particularly Microsoft Tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio).
  • ASQ Certifications are a plus.

The salary range for this position is between 77,000 USD and 163,000 USD, reflecting a good faith estimate for various experience levels. RTX considers multiple factors when extending offers, including role responsibilities, candidate experience, education, and skills.
