Quality Assurance Engineer for Manufacturing Operations

We are seeking a skilled Quality Engineer to enhance our Effectors Operations Quality team within a dynamic manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will be a proactive self-starter, adept at driving quality standards, manufacturing goals, and continuous improvement initiatives in a collaborative setting.
This role is pivotal in a manufacturing context that demands agility and precision, where effective quality management is essential for overall operational success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance of products and processes with contractual, technical, industry, AS9100 Quality Management System (QMS) standards, and internal protocols.
- Cultivate strong partnerships with production staff, factory leadership, program management, and regulatory agencies.
- Conduct regular data analysis and develop actionable metrics, including the generation and dissemination of Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) metrics.
- Lead cross-functional teams in conducting failure analyses, Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) investigations, identifying non-conformances, proposing solutions, and managing Corrective Action Boards (CAB).
- Oversee the identification, control, and resolution of non-conforming materials, facilitating Material Review Board (MRB) processes as necessary.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of work instructions by reviewing documentation, auditing processes, and ensuring proper configuration management.
- Create and maintain inspection instructions to align with technical data package requirements and production demands.
- Develop and approve First Article Inspections (FAIs) in accordance with AS9102 standards.
- Regularly engage with Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA) and internal stakeholders to address and resolve issues.
- Conduct weekly meetings aimed at minimizing costs associated with poor quality and ensuring timely resolutions.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM).
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience in Quality, Operations, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings, work instructions, Bill of Materials (BOMs), and manufacturing processes, particularly in assembly, inspection, or testing.
- Familiarity with AS9102 First Article Inspection requirements.
- Knowledge of AS9100 and/or ISO 9001 quality management systems.
- Ability to obtain and maintain an ATF (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives) clearance prior to employment.
- An active and transferable U.S. government-issued security clearance is mandatory prior to employment commencement.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Expertise in a relevant technical discipline with a solid understanding of engineering principles and design analysis techniques.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams in auditing processes and implementing product/process improvements in manufacturing or supplier environments.
- Knowledge of Product/Process Failure Modes & Effects Analysis, Regression Analysis.
- Familiarity with AS9145 - Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP).
- High proficiency in computer applications, particularly Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio).
- ASQ Certifications are a plus.

This position is based in Tucson, AZ, a city renowned for its welcoming atmosphere and vibrant metropolitan energy, surrounded by stunning natural landscapes.
The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD, reflecting a good faith estimate across various experience levels. RTX considers multiple factors when extending offers, including role responsibilities, candidate experience, education, and key skills. Hired candidates may be eligible for various benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and more, depending on the specific business unit and collective bargaining agreements.
This role is based in the U.S. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
