Position Overview:

The Arizona Official Website of State of Arizona is in search of a proficient and committed Facilities Operations Engineer. This position plays a crucial role in maintaining the effective functioning, upkeep, and repair of state-managed facilities. The Facilities Operations Engineer will address maintenance requests and perform routine repairs, collaborating closely with the Senior Facilities Engineer on more intricate assignments. This role necessitates the ability to manage and fulfill all service requests, prioritize tasks, and assign responsibilities to contractors when required.

Key responsibilities encompass executing both corrective and preventive maintenance to prolong the lifespan of facility equipment, alongside possessing a thorough understanding of plumbing, electrical systems, carpentry, general maintenance, and HVAC operations.

Core Responsibilities: Diagnoses, maintains, inspects, modifies, and repairs facility systems, including but not limited to plumbing, electrical, overhead doors & gates, fire alarm systems, fire sprinklers, automatic doors, flooring, drywall & painting, ceiling tiles, lighting, emergency systems, door hardware, and elevators. Conducts regular general preventive maintenance on mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems, which includes routine lubrication, adjustments, cleaning, replacement of consumable components (such as filters, indicator lights), and periodic equipment testing. Employs a computerized maintenance management system in real-time for new requests, parts orders, updates, and completion records. Engages with clients from the initiation to the conclusion of each work order. Coordinates with contractors to schedule, assist, and ensure timely completion of contracted projects.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Knowledge of:

Electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and HVAC systems. Preventive maintenance and work order management software. Current construction principles, methods, and techniques. OSHA regulations and safety standards. Understanding of local, state, and federal compliance guidelines.

Skills in:

Exceptional customer service and communication abilities. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and ladder diagrams. Capable of understanding and interpreting building codes.

Ability to:

Deliver excellent customer service and maintain effective communication. Collaborate effectively with others within formal or informal team structures. Work independently with minimal supervision. Demonstrate self-motivation and confidence to achieve successful outcomes. Preferred Qualifications: A minimum of five years of experience in building operations engineering, particularly in electrical systems. Pre-Employment Requirements: Certification for refrigerant recovery (EPA Universal Certification). Valid driver's license. Background and reference verification, including criminal records check.
