Job Overview

Position: Senior Facilities Engineer


Reporting Structure:
The Senior Facilities Engineer will report directly to the Asset Manager.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the delegation of tasks to Building Engineers under your supervision.
  • Manage the upkeep and repair operations for commercial and retail properties within the portfolio.
  • Address special assignments and urgent maintenance requests.
  • Ensure adherence to quality standards and best practices in all tasks performed.
  • Assist in the training of staff on proper operational procedures and techniques.
  • Uphold relevant safety regulations.
  • Conduct routine inspections of facilities.
  • Operate mechanical and electrical systems that provide power, heating, cooling, and ventilation to the premises.
  • Maintain necessary licensing for the facility's operations.

Specific Duties:

  • Operate, maintain, and repair all boilers, heaters, pumps, valves, and associated piping used in steam and heated water distribution.
  • Manage refrigerant systems including compressors, condensers, and temperature control devices.
  • Handle secondary refrigerating liquids and their associated systems.
  • Maintain air compressors and their distribution systems.
  • Oversee natural gas distribution systems and all related control devices.
  • Manage water distribution systems, including filtration and plumbing.
  • Maintain electrical motors and engines that power various systems.
  • Oversee fuel oil systems and their components.
  • Manage sanitary sewer systems and associated equipment.
  • Maintain trash compactors and kitchen equipment.
  • Ensure proper electrical distribution for lighting and mechanical systems.
  • Adjust controls for seasonal efficiency and maintain compliance with preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Ensure life safety and security systems are operational.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by building management.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in general maintenance.
  • Basic computer proficiency.
  • Strong time management abilities.
  • Effective communication skills for internal and external interactions.
  • Demonstrated strong work ethic.
  • Experience with Yardi work order systems is advantageous.
