Accounting and Billing Specialist

La Pine Community Health Center is seeking a highly skilled Billing and Accounting Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our financial team, you will be responsible for maintaining and preparing billing and financial records for financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities:- Responsible for Cash and Investment accounts to ensure all cash transactions are recorded and reconciled monthly.
- Records Cash Receipts and Cash Disbursements daily for all banking transactions.
- Responsible for billing and secondary claims processing.
- Responsible for review of aged Patient Receivables, recommend and prepare accounts for Collections or other disposition of aged Patient Receivables.
- Responsible for preparing Patient and Insurance refunds.
- Responsible for maintaining patient payment plans.
- Responsible for managing lease and sublease billing and receipts for sublease properties, will work closely with Facilities Manager on lease contracts.
- Will work closely with Billing Specialist and Accounting Coordinator for cross training and back-up positions.
- Responsible for Accounting Journal Entries and Balance Sheet reconciliations as assigned.
- Maintain adequate records for audit and compliance requirements.
- Data entry skills to record transactions quickly and error free.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to use MIP Fund Accounting software preferred, or comparable accounting software.
- Ability to use Epic EMR software to review patient accounts.
- Strong skills in MS Office products, specifically Excel.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks with high attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and with good judgment.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience working in an accounting environment.
- 2 to 5 years' experience working in an accounting environment with healthcare.
- Associate degree or higher in accounting or related education field.
There may be exposure to airborne and blood-borne pathogens, and hazardous materials. This position is non-supervisory and is considered non-exempt. This position is not eligible to be a telecommute position.
