Veterinary Care Specialist

About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled Veterinary Technician or Assistant to join our team at Vets Pets. As a Veterinary Technician or Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting our veterinarians in delivering exceptional medical services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Client communication and education
- Triaging patients, including basic injury/illness assessment, gathering patient information, and taking vital signs
- Assisting with surgical procedures and patient monitoring
- Place peripheral and central catheters
- Restrain patients for exams and treatments
- Set up and administer IV and SQ fluids
- Maintain urinary catheters
- Bandage removal and application
- Perform suture and drain removal and basic wound cleaning and care
- Perform drug dose calculations for injectable medications and CRIs
- Administer medications and dispensing controlled drugs
- Patient monitoring and treatments
- In-house laboratory testing
- Medication calculation and administration
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Ability to work with or around sick animals, potentially hazardous materials, cleaning chemicals, gas anesthetics, and unpleasant odors
- Ability to always communicate professionally and effectively and maintain professionalism in emotionally charged / challenging situations
- Must possess patience and empathy to address client concerns
- Ability to work effectively with imaging equipment, veterinary medical equipment, computers, and electronics
- Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced team environment
- Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills
- Flexibility with work hours and able to work additional hours when necessary
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift patients up to 40lbs throughout the workday with or without reasonable accommodations
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to frequently lift, walk, bend, twist, reach, push and squat
