Position Overview
The NCAA Compliance Coordinator is tasked with managing and coordinating all facets of NCAA compliance within the athletic department. This position is crucial in ensuring that the institution's athletic programs, coaching staff, and student-athletes adhere to NCAA, conference, and institutional regulations.Key Responsibilities
Compliance Oversight: Establish, implement, and supervise compliance monitoring systems. Oversee recruiting processes, financial aid distribution, eligibility assessments, and the scheduling of playing and practice seasons. Conduct routine audits to verify compliance with NCAA standards. Training and Development: Create and lead a comprehensive educational program to inform and ensure adherence to NCAA, Atlantic Sun (ASUN) conference, and institutional regulations. Provide training for coaches, student-athletes, and athletic department personnel regarding NCAA guidelines. Develop and distribute training materials and conduct informative sessions. Remain informed on NCAA rule changes and relay this information to pertinent stakeholders. Documentation and Reporting: Prepare and submit necessary reports to the NCAA and conference authorities. Maintain thorough records of compliance activities and investigations. Ensure timely and accurate documentation of all compliance-related issues. Advisory Functions: Act as the primary consultant on compliance issues for the Athletic Director and senior management. Offer guidance on compliance challenges and formulate strategies to mitigate potential risks. Serve as a liaison with the NCAA, ASUN Conference, Financial Aid, and Registrar's offices concerning compliance and scholarship matters. Interpret NCAA and ASUN rules and provide necessary clarifications. Investigative Duties: Investigate and report any suspected NCAA rule violations. Collaborate with NCAA and conference offices during investigations. Develop corrective measures and compliance strategies to prevent future infractions. Policy Formulation: Create and implement policies and procedures to ensure adherence to NCAA regulations. Regularly review and update institutional compliance policies as needed. Software Management: Oversee the NCAA Compliance Software and departmental compliance systems. Collaborate with faculty representatives on eligibility certification and compliance matters. Recruitment and Financial Aid Management: Manage recruiting activities, Athletics Grants-in-Aid programs, eligibility certifications, financial aid, NCAA squad lists, and National Letters of Intent. Develop educational resources, including compliance handbooks for departments and student-athletes, as well as annual NCAA rules brochures for alumni and the public. Waivers and Appeals Management: Compile and submit requests for eligibility waivers and other appeals related to NCAA regulations. Attend NCAA Compliance seminars and provide ongoing updates on rules and procedures. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree or higher. A minimum of three years of experience in NCAA compliance or a related area. Availability for evening and weekend work may be necessary. Occasional travel for conferences and meetings may be required.
