Position Overview
The NCAA Compliance Coordinator is tasked with managing and overseeing all facets of NCAA compliance within the athletic department. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring that all athletic programs, coaching staff, and student-athletes adhere to NCAA, conference, and institutional regulations.Key Responsibilities
Compliance Oversight: Establish and maintain compliance monitoring systems. Supervise recruiting practices, financial aid distribution, eligibility verification, and playing/practice schedules. Conduct periodic audits to ensure compliance with NCAA standards.
Education and Training: Design and implement a comprehensive educational program for NCAA, Atlantic Sun (ASUN) conference, and institutional regulations. Provide training to coaches, student-athletes, and athletic department personnel on NCAA compliance. Create and distribute educational resources and training sessions. Keep abreast of NCAA rule changes and inform relevant parties.
Documentation and Reporting: Prepare and submit necessary NCAA and conference documentation. Maintain detailed records of compliance activities and investigations. Ensure timely and accurate documentation of compliance issues.
Advisory Role: Act as the primary compliance advisor to the Athletic Director and senior management. Offer guidance on compliance challenges and develop solutions. Liaise with NCAA, ASUN Conference, Financial Aid, and Registrar's offices regarding compliance matters. Interpret NCAA and ASUN regulations as needed.
Investigations and Violations: Investigate potential NCAA rule violations and report findings. Collaborate with NCAA and conference officials during investigations. Formulate corrective measures and compliance strategies to prevent future infractions.
Policy Development: Create and enforce policies to ensure adherence to NCAA regulations. Regularly review and update institutional compliance policies.
Software and Systems Management: Oversee NCAA compliance software and departmental compliance systems. Collaborate with faculty representatives on eligibility certification and compliance issues.
Recruiting and Financial Aid Management: Supervise recruiting efforts, Athletics Grants-in-Aid programs, and eligibility certification. Develop educational materials for compliance awareness among alumni, boosters, and the public.
Waivers and Appeals: Compile and submit requests for eligibility waivers and appeals related to NCAA regulations. Attend NCAA Compliance seminars and provide ongoing updates on compliance matters.
Qualifications and Skills Comprehensive knowledge of NCAA regulations and compliance issues. Strong organizational and administrative capabilities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively. Detail-oriented with strong analytical abilities. Proficient in compliance software and database management.
Physical Requirements Light Work: Ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently.
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree required. At least three years of experience in NCAA compliance or a related field. Availability for evening and weekend hours may be necessary. Occasional travel for conferences and meetings may be required.
