Job Description

The Building People, LLC, is seeking a highly skilled Energy Senior Program Manager to join our team. As a key member of our energy consulting team, you will be responsible for leading a portfolio of projects and contracts within the energy space for the federal government.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team to deliver projects on behalf of our clients, ensuring successful project delivery from initiation to deployment.
  • Maintain full project life cycle ownership, including project planning, external vendor relationships, communications, resources, budget, change, risks, and issues.
  • Manage team resources, schedules, financials, and adhere to federal government quality control guidelines throughout the project delivery life cycle.
  • Develop and manage all aspects of project and program engagement, including planning, external vendor relationships, communications, resources, budget, change, risks, and issues.
  • Monitor staff performance and complete performance reviews.
  • Perform internal quality control reviews to ensure projects and programs are proceeding according to scope, schedule, budget, and quality standards.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives to improve project delivery while exceeding customer expectations.
  • Set and manage project and program expectations, delegating and managing deliverables with team members and stakeholders.
  • Supervise all personnel assigned to the project, including time coding, leave approval, training, performance management, and disciplinary actions.
  • Ensure the project achieves the required quality of deliverables within the specified constraints of time and cost.
  • Support and maintain the company culture that fosters creativity, innovation, and advancement.
  • Secure adequate resources to achieve project objectives in planned timeframes.
  • Define success criteria and disseminate them to involved parties throughout the project and program life cycle.
  • Provide status reporting regarding project milestones, deliverables, dependencies, risks, and issues, communicating across leadership.
  • Coach, mentor, motivate, and supervise project and program team members.
  • Develop and deliver program presentations to various audiences, including project team, clients, CEO, and key stakeholders.
  • Work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment, demonstrating teamwork, innovation, and excellence.
  • Experience and familiarity with federal agencies and respective goals or policies is highly desirable.
  • Substantial experience with federal contracting and procurement is preferred.
  • Support capture and proposal activities related to new energy and smart buildings work.

Requirements:

  • 10 years of experience in project, program, and portfolio management.
  • 10 years of experience in energy, renewable energy, efficiency, and economic optimization, both technical and federal policy.

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
  • Master's degree in a related field (i.e., Engineering, Sustainability, Finance, or Real Estate) is preferred.
  • Certified Energy Manager (CEM) is preferred.
