Job Overview

The Aviation & Maritime Security Specialist plays a crucial role within the MedAire Aviation Security Centre. This position is dedicated to providing comprehensive assessments, expert advice, and ongoing monitoring support to clients, ensuring a robust global security operations framework available around the clock.

The specialist is tasked with delivering high-quality, tailored verbal and written security briefings related to aviation and maritime sectors upon request. This role involves offering strategic security guidance to clients while enhancing situational awareness through vigilant monitoring, alert drafting, and escalation of emerging security concerns in the aviation and maritime domains.

Core Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional customized verbal and written security assessments to diverse multinational clients operating in high-risk environments.
  • Gather, analyze, and disseminate information regarding security threats impacting personnel and the aviation and maritime industries, in collaboration with regional and functional analysts.
  • Maintain a continuous understanding of the regional security landscape through in-depth research on global aviation and maritime security trends.
  • Conduct training and consultancy services as necessary.
  • Travel as required to address crisis situations and cultivate local networks to enhance client support.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of current events affecting aviation and maritime security, ensuring proficiency in delivering both written and verbal travel advisories.
  • Adhere to established systems and procedures, participating in regular training sessions related to Aviation and Maritime Security and broader security topics as directed by management.
  • Update proprietary assessments and other relevant content, including the maintenance and enhancement of the A&M Content Management System.

Essential Skills and Knowledge

  • Strong interest in global affairs and the international security landscape.
  • Thorough analytical understanding of political and security dynamics influencing aviation and maritime security.
  • Proficient in explaining operational processes related to flight and maritime activities across varying security threat levels.
  • Ability to source, validate, and synthesize information from diverse sources, engaging in the complete intelligence cycle as required.
  • Capacity to remain composed and resourceful while navigating uncertainty and competing priorities.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information to non-expert audiences and draft concise security briefs.
  • International experience, both professionally and personally.
  • Strong proficiency in IT, including Microsoft Office Suite and related applications.
  • Willingness to work outside standard hours to support team operations, particularly during crises.

Preferred Experience

  • Demonstrated experience in travel or security-related fields such as military, public safety, government, NGOs, human rights, or journalism; or relevant academic background.
  • Experience in sourcing and evaluating information from multiple channels, effectively briefing or writing for senior stakeholders.
  • Background in the aviation sector, particularly in security or flight planning roles.
  • Experience within the maritime industry.
  • Proven ability to write for senior management and business decision-makers.
  • Client-facing experience, such as in sales or customer service.

Qualifications

  • Eligibility to work in the United States and/or the UAE is required.

Language Proficiency

  • Excellent command of English (both spoken and written).
  • Operational proficiency or advanced skills in another language (such as Arabic, Russian, Farsi, French, etc.) is preferred.

Travel and Rotation Requirements

  • Flexibility in working hours and shift patterns is necessary, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Travel is contingent on business needs but is not expected to exceed 10% of work hours.
