This role is pivotal in fostering the profitable expansion of the North America Builder's Risk Direct Insurance division as a Senior Construction Underwriter. The position involves generating Builder's Risk, Contractors All Risks (CAR), and Erection All Risks (EAR) insurance contracts, applicable to both individual projects and annual agreements, across various sectors including Civil Infrastructure, Oil & Gas, Power, Renewables, Heavy Industries, and Buildings within the US and Canadian markets.

Job Overview:

• Drive the acquisition of profitable new business in the North America region, focusing on Builder's Risk, Contractors All Risks (CAR), and Erection All Risks (EAR) insurance contracts.

• Enhance the quality and development of the portfolio in alignment with the underwriting policy and strategic direction set by the Global Line of Business.

• Collaborate on commercial initiatives for the region, working in tandem with other Lines of Business.

• Provide specialized technical and/or language expertise to the Global Construction teams.

Key Responsibilities:
Reporting directly to the North America Construction Manager:
Main Duties:

• Underwrite and cultivate a profitable portfolio in accordance with Specialty Insurance underwriting standards.

• Conduct thorough risk assessments to determine insurability and apply suitable terms and conditions.

• Identify and pursue new business opportunities to enhance the Specialty Insurance profile.

• Foster and maintain relationships with clients and intermediaries, including brokers and risk managers.

• Engage in regular visits to clients, brokers, and project sites, with travel comprising approximately 20% of the role.

• Promote SCOR's offerings through various communication and marketing initiatives (seminars, forums, materials, etc.).

• Collaborate closely with colleagues within the SCOR network to align business objectives and optimize responses to producers.

• Analyze the construction portfolio with a focus on profitability.

• Ensure accurate data management within information systems for effective portfolio analysis.

• Oversee the administration of the OMEGA back-office tool in coordination with Technical Assistants for new or existing accounts.

• Maintain regular communication with the claims team to inform the underwriting process.
Contract Management:

• Ensure data integrity in front-end underwriting tools.

• Manage contracts effectively (endorsements, renewals, claims, etc.) and ensure data accuracy in IT systems.

• Prioritize profitability and sustainability in decision-making processes.
Client Management:

• Embrace a solution-oriented, customer-centric approach, leveraging cross-selling opportunities with other lines of business or treaty for facultative services.
Global Construction Team:

• Participate in broader global construction initiatives and projects.

Required Experience & Skills:
The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 5 to 10 years of underwriting experience within the insurance sector, with exposure to diverse international construction risks. Experience in the construction industry is also advantageous.

Educational Requirements:
A degree in Engineering and/or recognized qualifications in business, mathematics, or insurance are required.

In compliance with local regulations, the compensation range for this role is disclosed for positions performed in New York. Actual salaries may vary based on various factors including location, experience, role, and performance. The stated range is part of SCOR's total compensation package, which may also include annual bonuses and other incentives, alongside a comprehensive benefits package.
